Beginner Course – Building the Basics
The Beginner Course at Still Skills for Life helps young people establish structure and independence through practical, face-to-face learning. With consistent support from trained staff, learners develop healthy routines, improve self-care, and start taking responsibility for their environment and wellbeing.
Domestic Routine
Learners tidy their rooms, make beds, and keep shared areas clean. They learn to manage laundry and help around the house as part of daily life.
Personal Hygine
We support learners with regular showering, brushing teeth, and grooming. Hygiene kits are provided, and staff help build strong daily habits.
Food & Meal Prep
Learners plan and cook meals, shop with support, and clean up after themselves. They work towards a beginner cookery award and complete food hygiene training.
Core Learning
Young people complete First Aid, Food Hygiene, Food Safety, and Sexual Health courses. Positive behaviour is encouraged, and progress is recognised through AQA Unit Awards.

Intermediate Course – Taking Responsibility
At the Intermediate level, learners continue to develop their independence, but with a greater focus on self-direction, leadership, and preparation for adult life. They are encouraged to take initiative, become role models for others, and maintain the high standards set during the beginner stage.
Participants choose three themed CPD modules, ranging from topics such as Health & Fitness, Social Media Awareness, Drug and Alcohol Education, to Smoking & Vaping Awareness. They’ll also explore career interests, learn how to communicate their goals, and begin preparing for work or further education all supported by a practical, in-person approach to learning.
Advanced Course – Independent Living & Life Planning
SS4L Advanced is for young people in care who are ready for a bigger step. You will set clear goals, build strong routines and get steady support from staff who are on your side. We focus on real progress in education, work and everyday life so you finish feeling confident and ready to stand on your own feet.
